Proper nutrition plays a fundamental role in the performance, recovery, and overall well-being of professional athletes. Special attention is given to professional football (soccer), whose high-intensity intermittent nature places unique stress on glycogen metabolism, hydration, and rapid between-match recovery. This paper explores the impact of dietary choices on athletic performance, common nutritional challenges, periodization strategies, psychological factors, cultural considerations, and evidence-based approaches to optimize health and outcomes in professional sports. An integrative understanding of nutrition empowers athletes to achieve sustained success and longevity in their careers.
