Study on the Continuous Cropping Obstacles of ‘Honey World’ Melon (Cucumis melon L.) Seedlings Grafted on Three Types of Rootstocks

Abstract: Grafting could reduce the obstacle effect of continuous cropping on melon. Melon was grafted two squash varieties and oriental pickling melon as rootstocks. When the melon seedlings were cultured with medium that had been used for continuous cropping twice, the medium exerted a significant inhibitory effect on the growth of both grafted and un-grafted seedlings, while the growth of the grafted seedlings was still better than that of the un-grafted seedlings. The grafted seedlings had a larger leaf area and greater above-ground fresh and dry weights. Using HPLC to analyze the phenolic compounds in the medium, the results showed that medium used for un-grafted melons mainly contained gallic acid and vanillic acid, and medium used for grafted melons mainly contained gallic acid and m-hydroxybenzoic acid. In terms of the level of total phenolic compounds, medium-cultured grafted melon produced using squash ‘Xin Tu Zuo’ as the rootstock had the highest content, followed by un-grafted plants and those that used oriental pickling melon ‘Hwi Pei’ as the rootstock, which had similar levels of total phenolic compounds; melon produced using squash ‘Zhuang Shi’ as the rootstock had the lowest content. In this study, the factor inhibited melon plant growth in continuous media was identified.

Abstract: Backgroud: Dendrobium sp. are production by multishoot system and it is required high of labor, energy, cost, large area. Objectives: there are needs of a new production system by using of plant cell culture techniques. Methods: manipulation of bioreactor techniques was effective ways to resolve the chalenges. Protocorm like bodies were used as planting materials. Somatic embryo callus was initiated on medium MS supplemented with 2.4D (0,3mg/l) + CW (30%). Somatic cell suspension was cultured for initiation and for proliferation and on medium MS + 2.4D (0,3mg/l) + CW (30%) and MS + NAA (0,5mg/l) + 2.4D (0.1mg/l). The volume of somatic cell suspension for bioreactor cultivation was 20%. The volume for plating was 5ml/60ml semi-solid medium. Somatic embryo suspension was cultured in bioreactor for initiation and proliferation on the medium MS + NAA (0,5mg/l) + 2.4D (1mg/l). Embryogenic suspension was stimulated on the medium MS supplemented with BA (0.2mg/l) + NAA (0.2mg/l). In vitro shoots of dendrobium were regeneration on the medium MS supplemented with BA (0.2mg/l) + NAA (0.2mg/l). Plantlets were enhanced growth and development in immersion-bioreactor cultivation by sinking/rising floated 1min/4hrs. Temperature, light intensity and stirring in stirring-bioreactor cultivation were favored at 26±2°C, 11,1-22,2μmol/m2/s, and 30rpm. Results: Micropropagation of Dendrobium sp. by bioreactor technique was established to produce 6,200 plantlets per one liter of somatic embryogenesis suspension.

Abstract: Cercospora leaf spot disease (CLS), caused by Cercospora beticola Sacc., considered one of the most damaging foliar diseases, attacks sugar beet causing significant loss in the final yield. The direct impact of CLS on sugar beet yield and yield components was investigated in the field trials conducted in Sakha, Kafr El-Sheikh governorate in 2017/2018 and 2018/2019 seasons. Pleno cultivar was cultivated under natural infection and disease severity was controlled by Eminent fungicide (Tetraconazole 12.5%, 1ml/L). Leaf weight (LW), root weight (RW), total soluble sugar (TSS) and sucrose % (S) were measured at the harvest time and the gross sugar (GS) was estimated then collected data were statistically analyzed. All parameters of the yield components were significantly affected due to CLS infection. Actual losses in the LW, RW, TSS and S reached 82.9%, 55.1%, 34.8% & 40.3% in the first season and 69.3%, 46%, 29.1% & 33.6% in the second season respectively. Additionally, monetary return (Egyptian Pound) per feddan (4200 m2) was decreased due to infection by CLS disease. The reduction ranged from 294-1668 Egyptian pounds during the two seasons depending on the disease severity occurred. Finally, the possibility to predict loss % in yield components according to disease severities was illustrated and equations were concluded using the single point model.

Abstract: Forest products industry is a sustainable green industry. It not only raw materials can absorb and fix carbon dioxide in the atmosphere during the growth process, but also carbon emissions during product processing and manufacturing are much lower than other basic materials such as steel and cement, and they have carbon storage capabilities and carbon reduction capability. The proposal of "carbon peaking and carbon neutrality" puts forward new requirements and points out the direction for the high-quality development of forest products industry. At first, this paper defines the connotation of high-quality development of forest products industry under the background of "carbon peaking and carbon neutrality", then summarizes the high-quality development of forest products industry, which thinks the forest products industry has actively explored ways of high-quality development and achieved remarkable results. At the same time, the paper points out some difficulties faced by further development, such as insufficient supply of raw materials, lack of carbon storage and carbon emission standards. In order to achieve the goal of "carbon peaking and carbon neutrality", the paper proposes measures to promote high-quality development of forest products industry, which includs starting from solving the shortage of raw material supply, improving the carbon storage capacity of products, expanding the industrial chain, and accelerating the construction of a series of standards for the high-quality development of the forest products industry.

Abstract: The present scientific research work was to demonstrate that with the increase in the degree of compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices in five wineries, the confidence of consumers of alcoholic beverages was achieved, in addition to increasing the volume of sales, which means that the higher the percentage of application of the GMP, the greater the volume of sales, for which the sanitary control and monitoring of these warehouses was carried out for three years (2017-2019) in terms of the application of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) in the production process production of alcoholic beverages, evidencing that each year the percentage of compliance with GMP increased and it was possible to demonstrate through laboratory analysis that the fermented beverages produced in the five wineries did not represent any risk to the health of consumers, since that met the physical and chemical requirements, in addition to not containing heavy metal residues, which is why which, it can be guaranteed that they are innocuous products and suitable for human consumption. The results of the surveys carried out on producers and consumers of alcoholic beverages are also shown, where it can be seen that when there is a higher percentage of compliance with GMP, the confidence of final consumers increases.
