Abstract: Foreign direct investment is one of the major sources of external finance for developing countries like Kenya that have a limited amount of capital. Foreign flows into the country so far have been increasing as compared to the previous year’s revealing Kenya potential as a business hub for multinational companies to invest in. However, the inability to retain FDI flows into the country has become a major problem and understanding the factors driving FDI inflows into a country and their impact on a country’s economic development is of importance. The main objective was to find out the impact of exchange rate, GDP and inflation on FDI in Kenya. Foreign direct investment as a percentage of GDP was the dependent variable while the independent variables were exchange rate, GDP and Inflation rate. The study examined data for 10 years from 2005-2014 for Kenya. To find out the perception of people towards FDI in Kenya primary data was collected from a sample of 271 people. A linear regression analysis was used to determine the relationship between exchange rate, GDP, inflation rate and FDI inflows. Exchange rate, GDP and Inflation rate were found to have a negative insignificant effect on FDI inflows. The study also found out that people in Kenya perceive FDIs as market seeking investments that is they will invest if there is availability of market for the goods and services produced. The study recommends that Policies in relation to formation of regional treaties between Kenya and neighboring countries with an aim of encouraging foreign investment should be made. Security should also be maintained within and around the country and political stability is also crucial in attracting and retaining FDIs. In addition the government should increase its fight against corruption in Kenya so as to increase the foreign investor’s confidence in investing in our country.

Abstract: This paper attempt to empirically investigate the behavioural effect of the multinational operations and its impact on the performance of the Nigeria economy spanning from post SAP era 1986 to 2014 using secondary data sourced from the CBN statistical bulletin. The result of the OLS shows that foreign direct investment does not significantly stimulate nor contribute to the growth of the Nigeria economy in the short run judging by 5% level of significant. Mine while, MCP and MLTLAT are positive and significantly indicators to the growth of the Nigeria economy in the short run. The result of the stationary test reveals that all the variable used in the process of research became stationary after first differencing in the order of 1(1) while we observe long run association between all the variable used in this research work as reveal by the output of the Johansson co-integration test. The output of the various diagnostic test shows that all the variable are normally distributed. The output of the granger causality test reveals that there exist a unidirectional nexus between foreign direct investment and the Nigeria economic growth with causality flowing from FDI to PCGDP. From this view, we can infer that the multinational operations (FDI) is significantly contributing to the development and growth of the Nigeria economic hence, FDI is supply leading in the long run based on the report of this study. Sequel to this, we advise that appropriate policy must be put in place so as to ensure more stability of the macro-economic variable which will serve as a prerequisite for the attraction of more multinationals.

The primary information was collected from face to face semi structured interview schedule. The secondary data related to the climatic pattern, trends were obtained from different publication and journals. The study related to the economic feasibility of the biogas revealed that the biogas was an alternative household energy source in the study area which had significant impact on the reduction of mosquito breeding, flies and rodents, foul odor, and smoke. The amount of the firewood consumption had drastically decreased from about the 2 quintal to 60 kg per month. The result from the Benefit–Cost Ratio was 1.62 at 14% rate of discount. The NPV was found to be Rs. 128113.10; IRR was 54.67%, Pay Back Period of 3 years signifying that the installation of the biogas was economically viable.
